Privacy Policy for NixiCam

      Core Privacy Guarantee: NixiCam processes every video frame locally on your own computer's graphics card (GPU). Your webcam feed, facial coordinates, and video streams never leave your device. The only thing NixiCam ever transmits is a license key, and only when you type one in and click Activate — see Section 4.
    

1. Overview

NixiCam ("the Extension") is a privacy-first browser extension for Google Chrome and Chromium-based browsers that provides real-time webcam retouching, facial sculpting, and beauty filters during video calls (Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom Web, Slack, and others).

2. Data Collection and Transmission

NixiCam collects and transmits no personal data, with one narrow exception described in Section 4.

No Server for Video: The extension operates without external backend servers for any video or retouching functionality. No network requests are made during normal camera operation.
No Video Transmission: Video frames from your webcam are captured, retouched using client-side WebGL2 shaders, and streamed directly into your local browser session. No video or image data is ever recorded, stored, or sent to the cloud.
No Facial Recognition: NixiCam uses an on-device MediaPipe Face Landmarker model solely to track geometric contours (e.g. eye position, jawline) for the current frame being rendered. It does not identify individuals, compute biometric embeddings, or store face identifiers. Landmark coordinates are discarded immediately after each frame is drawn.
No Analytics or Telemetry: We do not track your browsing habits, page visits, call participants, meeting durations, or audio.

3. Permissions Used

storage: Used solely to save your local UI preferences (such as your chosen slider levels, favorite preset, and license activation state) in your browser's chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your computer.
Host Permissions (<all_urls>): Required so NixiCam can intercept navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia before video-calling sites run their scripts, ensuring your webcam stream is enhanced seamlessly across any meeting platform. The extension does not read, modify, or interact with website content.
Host Permission (api.gumroad.com): Used only when you click Activate on a Pro license key, to verify that key against Gumroad's public License Verification API. No other requests are made to this or any other host.

4. Third-Party Services & Payments

NixiCam Pro is sold and billed entirely through Gumroad. When you activate a license key, the Extension sends only that key to Gumroad's License Verification API to confirm it corresponds to a real, unrefunded purchase. Gumroad's response may include the purchase email tied to that key; it is stored locally in your browser to show your activation status and is never sent anywhere else. NixiCam never has access to your payment credentials or credit card numbers.

Should any updates be made to this Privacy Policy, the revised version will be posted here with an updated revision date.
